ANZA International Junior Soccer League has been running for over 30 years. It provides an opportunity for children of ages 2 to 18 (and adults) from all communities in Singapore to particpate in organized grassroots soccer in a fun and friendly atmosphere. ANZA Soccer is a family event with an emphasis on the social side for parents getting involved with their children, supporting their teams and meeting their friends on and off pitch every Saturday. IN additiuon, we are now a fully integrated soccer club, moving well beyond the recreational level and competing in some of the toip tournaments in the Region. We are an entirely voluntary organization run by the parents.
ANZA IJSL is run entirely by volunteers. The players and their families are members of the League not clients of the League. The organizers welcome all help in running the League and value the opinions of those that are willing to volunteer. The League needs team coaches and Mums. If you have no experience that is not a problem as we shall be running coaching clinics during the season.
ANZA IJSL is more than just a bunch of kids kicking a ball. All the players learn lessons for life and the parents who participate become part of the emotional roller coaster that is the ANZA season.
The League Spirit is summed up in this (edited) speech by one coach whose team were third in their League but went on to win the Cup.
"We might not have been the side with the best players but we did it as a team and we have been the side with the most passion and always ready to go that extra mile.
Whether in sports, school or life if you are ready to do a bit more to get there and not only for day - sometime for a season or a few seasons - eventually you will make it.
We didn't win the League title but also that could not stop us winning the Cup, and trust me the victory against the League Champions in the semifinal felt only so special because we finally succeeded after been beaten twice by them. Always remember
"In order to enjoy victory from deep down inside you must have experienced defeat first"
So next time you lose, take it that way and don't give up because you can still succeed - but you have to be ready to go that extra mile!
Keep that spirit and character you have shown during this soccer season for many years to come and you will achieve great things in life and I will be still proud of you!"
